It was obvious my 10 year old Malamute/Husky was in pain from his teeth over the last few months. Even though dogs hide their pain from their owners, I noticed my boy would drool a bit more and his tongue color was a bit off. I took him into his regular Vet and he noticed some issues near the K9 tooth. The k9 tooth is very delicate and the root is very deep. Many regular vets are not comfortable doing that deep of an extraction, hence the need for a professional. I was referred to Dr. Stein and making an appointment was very easy. Debbie, the office coordinator, was very pleasant and professional. She knew I was going to be out of town and was trying very hard to get me an earlier appointment, in which she came through. The facility itself is very convenient right in the heart of Cool Springs. It is at the end of an office strip with convenient parking. The inside is COZY! Not only were the decorations fun to look at, but they had a fully stocked coffee station ready to go! I can't tell you how many times I see a Keurig and there is no water, its not turned on, and not stocked. Not the case here. I was very pleased to have a hot cup of Joe during my early appointment. Once you are called in, you go to a consultation room with Dr. Stein and some of his staff. Dr. Stein is a young professional with a very cool demeanor. He comes of as very confident and I actually like that about him. I was feeling like my boy was in good hands. He explained everything about everything- mainly the reasons why my dog had this happen (he was on a raw diet most of his life and got MANY of raw bones which is a big no no). He took x rays and did a physical examination and determined numerous teeth needed to be pulled so my fur buddy wouldn't risk disease and have a better quality of life. I asked MANY questions and they were all answered. Dr. Stein was very firm and forward on taking it easy post procedure. I was trying to twist his arm to allow me to walk my dog a little further and he was very much against this. The risks of your dog possibly damaging the stitches is too great. I obliged and was sent home with a folder, x rays, medications with clear instructions, and a list of things to feed. I fed my dog sweet potato, mashed potatoes, Honest Kitchen dehydrated food, scrambled eggs, raw ground beef....basically anything the consistency of mush. It took 2 weeks for my dog to heal and he had his follow up and is now doing great! The stitches dissolve by the way...how cool is that. And as an added bonus, Dr. Stein returned my dog's teeth to me. I figure it will be a nice memento after he passes one day. Not only that, I saw my dog's K9 root and it was black and decayed....UNREAL! I'm so glad I did the procedure. Just so you know, you will pay a premium for Dr. Stein's services....it comes with the territory of having a professional do the work. Thank you Dr. Stein and staff! Hopefully I Won't be seeing you again :)
